Help for leprosy patients
We support Leprosy care projects in several cities in India. We would like to share this short story about one of the persons suffering from leprosy who is being looked after by our local partners in India;
One of the ladies named Tagadibi (65) had been suffering from leprosy for almost 30 years. When the leprosy was discovered, her family rejected her and she was evicted from her home.
As a homeless person, Tagadibi spent about eight years begging on the streets. Recently, our team was informed of her situation by some friends.
At that time, Tagadibi was in a very bad condition. The friends who introduced us to her asked if we could take care of her, otherwise she would probably die soon. So we brought her to our leprosy home where she is taken care of. In this place, she receives food, shelter and daily medical care.
Loving Care House
The leprosy house is named ‘Loving Care House’. It is a place where elderly people suffering from leprosy like Thagadibai are taken care of both medically and emotionally. In India, elderly people suffering from leprosy are often expelled from their own families and neglected on the streets for fear that the leprosy will affect other family members as well.
